beaded bee pendant

This would be a fantastic summer pendant for someone who likes their bees.

This is quite a large pendant  - I have put it on a silver plate chain to show you how it hangs, it would also look good on leather

Blue butterflies

These are not the usual butterflies I am used to photographing, they aren't something I have ever made before either but after the success of my seahorse earlier this month I thought I would try my hand at making some other nature inspired pendants - there will be others to follow but for starters here are two blue wire and bead butterfly pendants

making a splash this summer - my beaded seahorse

Yesterday saw the result of yet another design idea that has been evolving over the last few months. Having worked on my wire work pendants earlier this week gave me the push I needed to follow on the idea to create this seahorse -

I then posted a picture of it on Facebook and this morning one of the comments there led to the sale of this one, but the fear not, the comments have been so encouraging that I will be making others and following on from a conversation on twitter about it too, there could also be some other designs along the same theme too, I need to have a play with more wire and see what I can come up with.

bead and wire woven pendants

This week I have been working on some pendant ideas, these have been made by weaving wire which have been threaded with glass beads around the oval wire frame

I then chose to make a more elaborate design so I added Swarovski crystal pearls to frame the design afterwards.

For those who like colour with their freshwater pearls

I have a selection of coloured freshwater pearls which I feel as though I should use, so this week I have been making a few necklaces. These are to be added to my stock to take out to my July events and I have a few more I would like to make up before then too, but these are good for a start! I have added tiny coloured glass beads to the pearls and each necklace is around 16 inches long finished off with silver plate clasps.

Coloured silk and pearls

I have had in my bag of buttons, ribbons and silks a bag of silk rods, which like so many things in that bag are just waiting for me to wake up one morning with an idea about how to use them. This morning was one of those mornings. So even before I had breakfasted I was in my work room trying out some ideas, and then after a couple more hours I had made these two sets, using two of my rods, leaving plenty to play with and use in other ways!

When grey is more like mauve

It has taken me almost a year to get over my disappointment of receiving these. Having ordered these freshwater pearls expecting them to be grey for a commissioned item and discovering that they definitely weren't, I put them away in a drawer until this week when I finally decided it was time to make something with them anyway! To my surprise they actually worked beautifully with light amethyst Swarovski crystals. I guess the fact that they hadn't been what I was expecting had just made me look at them as 'not right' and not as something that could be made into something beautiful - A freshwater pearl and Swarovski crystal necklace, bracelet and earring set
