A snap shot of my jewellery in Gallery at 12

I have been a member of the Staffordshire Artists Cooperative since it first set up, the very first meeting was held in my old old workshop, the Co-operative's aim was to open a Gallery to showcase, display and hopefully sell our work. Within 4 months of our first meeting we opened Gallery at 12  which has been open now for over 5 years.
I thought it was about time I showed a few pictures of my jewellery from one of my cabinets in the Gallery, so on Thursday this week, my cabinets looked like this.

A pale pink and crystal bracelet full of sparkle

Another new make for this week - I couldn't resist making this sparkly bracelet.
I have made this bracelet with pale pink and crystal faceted glass rondelles beads, finished off with a silver plate clasp.

pale amethyst ceramic bead - great for a summer day

New make for today - this pretty necklace, earring set. The feature bead is a pale cream and amethyst ceramic bead, I have added Swarovski crystals and tiny glass beads to make this simple set. The necklace is on a fine silver plate chain and I have added a silver plate stick to the earring for added length and have silver plate ear hooks.

Today I made this necklace using ceramic beads, glass pearls, Swarovski crystals and tiny glass beads, it measures approximately 18 inches long and is finished off with a gold plate clasp.

A necklace earring set in stunning blue glass and Swarovski crystals on black plate wire is my new make for this afternoon, may be the storms over the last few days have influenced my choice of beads as the set appears to have a stormy sky feel to it.

An alternative to a name necklace

Although name necklaces are great, they aren't always appropriate.
If you want to personalise your necklace but do not want your name included in the design, you can go for a more subtle design and just have your initials. I have made this string of carnelian beads as an example, but it could just as easily have been a bracelet and made using other semi precious beads, a string of pearls, or glass beads and where you choose to have your initials is up to you but I think placing them by the clasp works particularly well. I have used A and S as they are my initials, I don't have a middle name but if I did I might have preferred to have just had christian name initials instead.

A bead I just couldn't resist

When I saw these beads for sale online they reminded me of others I used years ago and thought I might be able to make earrings with them, but when they arrived it was clear that the bead actually is far to heavy to wear as an earring, well I wouldn't be happy wearing them, so I had to consider an alternative use for them.
It is a beautiful bead and I am very happy with it as a pendant drop

 I can also see ways of using it which aren't necessarily jewellery related which I might try at a later date.

A green glass beaded bracelet

Today's new make -
This green glass beaded bracelet was made yesterday using some pretty hand painted flat disc glass beads with a few glass rocaille and bugle beads thrown into the mix. It measures just over 8 inches in length including the clasp which is silver plate.

why not personalise your gifted jewellery

Are you wanting a string of freshwater pearls that looks just slightly different to other strings but still retains the simplicity of a string of pearls. Why not ask for a charm to be added to the clasp or near the clasp. I have added a simple small cross to this one as an example, which would make a lovely confirmation or adult baptism present. 

But you could add any charm to reflect the personality of the recipient or the occasion.
