Jewellery making workshops planned for 2016

I now have a few workshops planned for 2016 at Lily's Secret Vintage Tea Room, Swan Pit, nr Gnosall, Stafford, as listed below

Saturday 27th February

10.30 am - 12.30 pm Basic Jewellery Making 

£26 includes all the materials plus tea/coffee

You will receive instruction from myself on various bead jewellery making techniques - then you will be able to choose from a large selection of beads to make your own jewellery including  simple, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. If you are a beginner hopefully by the end of the morning you will have confidence to make many more items in your own time and tackle simple jewellery restringings and repairs too! If you have already attended one or more of my basic jewellery making sessions before then you are might like to take your jewellery making to the next level, maybe making a multi-stranded necklace for example. You will also have the opportunity to purchase extra beads, findings and tools  

1.30 pm - 3.30 pm 'bead and chain lattice bracelet'

£26 includes all the materials plus tea/coffee 

Receive instruction before making your own unique four stranded bracelet using beads with chain to form a lattice pattern between the beads.  - there will be a choice of colours for your bracelet  but to avoid disappointment please let me know if you have a colour preference when booking

To book the full day the cost will be £49 to include all your materials and hot drinks plus soup and sandwiches 

Saturday 2nd April

10.30 am - 12.30 pm Basic Jewellery Making

You will receive instruction from myself on various bead jewellery making techniques - then you will be able to choose from a large selection of beads to make your own jewellery including  simple, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. If you are a beginner hopefully by the end of the morning you will have confidence to make many more items in your own time and tackle simple jewellery restringings and repairs too! 1.30 pm - 3.30 pm cottage garden bracelet (plus earrings if there is time!)

£26 includes all the materials plus tea/coffee

Receive instruction before making your own pretty beaded bracelet using glass pearls and silver plate flower beads - this bracelet will be an ideal practise piece for making secure wrapped loops - a skill which you can then use to make other items of jewellery such as earrings and hanging drops.

Daisy chain necklace making workshops

Announcing my next couple of jewellery making workshops. I will be showing you how to make a necklace like these.

You will then have the opportunity to make your own choosing from this selection of beads and a choice of coloured silk thread

The workshops will take place at Lily's Secret Vintage Tea Rooms, Swan Pit, Gnosall, Staffordshire on Tuesday 16th June and Saturday 18th July - 10.30am - 12.30pm and the cost will be £20 which includes tea/coffee and cake

What would you make at basic jewellery making workshop by Angela Smith?

This post is for those of you wondering what you could expect to make at one of my basic jewellery making workshops. 

Firstly you can expect to see a very large selection of beads - these are the boxes I bring out to the workshops, I will also usually bring a few small baskets too, which have a selection of other glass beads and a few semi precious beads and freshwater pearls.

This morning I sat down and made the following items - My workshops normally last 2 -2 1/2 hours, these took me 1 1/2 hours to make so if you have had experience in making jewellery before you should be able to make similar in the allotted time, if you are totally new to jewellery making you should still manage to go away with two or three items, if not more - you will probably find that it is the choosing of the beads and planning of your items that will take most of your time. 

I will show you how to make a floating necklace, bracelet and pair of earrings, you can then choose what you want to make and select your own beads, they could be a colourful selection like above or you might want to make something more neutral such as this glass pearl necklace and matching earrings 

or if you like you could choose to  make a string of beads either on the wire or on beading thread, again I would show you how to do this too,

Alternatively you might want to include a pendant drop in your necklace design such as this black glass bead necklace 

Please remember that these are just examples of the types of jewellery you could make, I am happy to talk through with you and help you plan out other designs that you have in mind, providing I have the beads and correct finding to make these.

Jewellery making workshop

Today I returned to Shallowford House to provide a jewellery making workshop for the ladies attending the Mary and Martha Retreat - most of the ladies I had met yesterday at the craft fair and a couple have attended my workshops and / or birthday parties in the past,  although none had any idea I would be providing their workshop today!
I arrived half an hour before the workshop was due to start which gave me ample time to set up the beads and work boards etc. and most importantly to have a nice cup of tea.

After talking through and showing some of my designs, I gave a short demonstration on the basics of earring and necklace making before letting the ladies loose on the beads.
Necklaces, bracelets and earrings were made by the ladies and as always these came in a variety of styles and colours.
At the end of the session everyone had at least one item of jewellery and all looked very happy with their new makes!

Hen Party - jewellery making workshop

This weekend I provided a jewellery making workshop for a hen party at Dove Farm, Ellastone, on the Staffordshire Derbyshire border. I arrived at Dove Farm before the party had returned from there morning walk which allowed me time to have a brief chat with Jane, from Dove Farm, before setting up. I have known Jane for quite a few years now thanks to Women In Rural Enterprise (WiRE), and it is always a pleasure to meet her, I received a very warm welcome, thank you Jane!
The workshop was held in the studio dining room - part of the cottages

 a great space for workshops.

All set up and ready for the ladies to return - so time for a cup of tea, outside in the afternoon sunshine, with one member of the party who had opted to relax at the farm for the morning.
Then the rest of the party arrived back and the jewellery making began.

A very enjoyable afternoon, and some fabulous items of jewellery made, earrings, bracelets and necklaces with plenty of tea and cake!
I hope the hen Jo and friends enjoyed themselves as much as I did!
