A morning making earrings

This morning I held an earring making workshop in my studio.
I only had two participants, but we had a good time despite the cold. Here are some photo's of their finished items.

One year too late

It is such a shame I hadn't discovered blogs earlier. I would have loved to have kept a record of this willows last year.
This time last year this willow was still upright and proud. I used to call it my creaking willow, because you could hear it before you saw it.
The large gaping split through it's middle was no more than a small hole, but you could see the split breathing when a breeze caught the tree. over the next few months the split became larger and the willow started to lean over, it really caught my imagination and became the highlight of my walk, I knew it would fall at some stage and sure enough during one of our storms last Autumn it lost it's fight to stay upright.

I want to get over there but the floods are too big and deep, this is as far as I am prepared to go.

Just for fun!

I'm taking these three fairies over to Gallery @ 12, Eccleshall, where they can hang around for a while.

knitted flower

First of all, using ivory coloured wire with tiny gold and clear seed beads, knit 5 of these.

next sew together and add some crystals.
Question; What is it? I can't decide whether this should be attached to a hair slide or brooch bar, or used as a centre piece for a necklace.

With a wedding fair on St Valentines day looming I thought it was time to start making a few more pieces.
I always have crystal hearts, occasionally I have Venetian hearts, but I have never knitted a heart.

This has given me loads of ideas for other items, I just need to find time to make them!

knitted jewellery

Just to prove I am not obsessing about the snow all day, I have managed to make a few items of knitted jewellery over the last day or so, as I do keep some of my wire and seed beads at home. It is much nicer to knit sat in a comfortable chair in front of a fire instead of at a work bench in a cold barn!

knitted earrings on sterling silver hooks.

a simple square brooch.

This was going to be a large square brooch, but when I looked at it after knitting I decided it was too large, so I joined up two of its sides and inserted some small seed beads on wire, I have placed a loop at the top so it will be a pendant this time, I might well make another one as a brooch.

A knitted brooch.

I think that these are all destined for Gallery @ 12 , Eccleshall.

One day I will be able to get to my workshop, just not yet!

I will be driving up here shortly. I have to say I am not looking forward to it!

It was lovely on foot, walking up the grass in the middle of the track, but it was already compacted ice before the snow, where the cars have been.
